When: woensdag 13 april 2016 20:00 - donderdag 14 april 2016 00:00
Where: Café de Wolwaag
In our masterclass series on European issues we dealt with possible future scenarios for the development of the EU. In the second part we are going to focus on one of the concrete problems the EU is facing nowadays: rising Euroscepticism, which has found its culmination in the upcoming referendum on the Brexit.
The Jonge Democraten Limburg (Young Democrats) and the Young European Federalists (JEF) Maastricht are organising a seminar on this topic. Euroscepticism is rising high in British politics, especially among the Conservatives. As European federalists, we want to know what is at stake. And should the Brits vote in favour of leaving, then what is going to happen to the EU and to Great Britain?
Our speaker for this evening is dr. Heidi Maurer, assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Maastricht University. As such, she was a member of the London School of Economics and Political Science’s Commission on the Future of Britain in Europe. She will tell us about the backgrounds of British Euroscepticism, the referendum and the future of Great Britain in Europe as an EU-member or as a former member.
Location: de Wolwaag
Time: 19:30 welcoming, 20:00 start of the seminar
Everyone who is interested in the Brexit is welcome to join us on the 13th of April in De Wolwaag.
