When: maandag 25 april 2016 19:30 - 22:00
Where: Hoefkade 9, Den Haag
On Monday 25th of April, Team Middle East & North Africa (MENA) and the Leiden Haaglanden chapter of the Young Democrats will tackle the seemingly endless tension between Turkey and the Kurds. During this evening, we will discuss the history of the conflict between regional powerhouse Turkey and the stateless yet instransigent Kurds of the Middle East. In addition, we will highlight the current situation and provide insights into a possible future for the relationship between the state and the people.
This evening's analyses and insights will be provided by two experts on the region:
Lily Sprangers, director of the Turkey Institute and frequent commentator on Turkish affairs in various prominent news outlets such as Nieuwsuur and NRC Handelsblad.
Dana Cheragwandi, an Iraqi Kurd and Board Member of the Association of Refugee Organisations Netherlands.
Given the prominent role Turkey and the Kurds play in today's international relations, this is an event not to be missed by those interested in global politics! We hope the discussion of this evening will provide new perspectives into a complicated issue and we hope to see you all on April 25th!
