December 9th 1991 was the first day of the Euro Summit in which the basis of the European Union in its current form was laid down. In honour of this day the Jonge Democraten Limburg in collaboration with D66 Limburg shall hold a 'European collegetour' with Sophie in't Veld, Member of the European Parliament for D66 and chairwoman of D66 within Europe.
Sophie in't Veld has been a member of D66 since 1988 and has been a Member of European Parliament since 2004. Within the European Parliament D66 is part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE). Sophie in't Veld studied history and as a Member of European Parliament she is very active in the fields of civil liberties and human rights. She is also chairwoman of the European Parliament Platform for Secularism in Politics and vice-chairwoman of the 'intergroup on Gay & Lesbian Rights' within the European Parliament.
On Wednesday December 9th Sophie in't Veld shall be our guest at the StayOkay in Maastricht (Maasboulevard 101) for a 'collegetour' session. 'Collegetour' is a Dutch television program in which a Dutch or international guest is being interviewed. However, not only the guest will speak, but the audience can participate by asking questions to this guest.
During the evening three different topics shall be addressed. Sophie in 't Veld shall speak about those topics and afterwards there will be plenty of time for you, the audience, to ask all of your questions! The evening shall be lead by Bart Hermans who is an expert at leading these types of events.
Let your voice on Europe be heard and make sure to attend this event! We hope to welcome you on wednesday december 9th 2015 at the StayOkay (Maasboulevard 101) in Maastricht. You are welcome from 19:30 onwards and the event shall start at 20:00.
