"On 28 February and 1 March 2015, the Jeunes MR de la Province de Liège, Jonge Democraten Limburg, Jong VLD Limburg, JOVD Maastricht e.o., and Junge Liberale NRW Aachen and Niederrhein are organising the very first young liberal Euregion Congress in Liège. At this Congress we will make a first step towards further cross-border cooperation among our organisations in the area Hasselt-Liège-Maastricht-Aachen. We will address issues with regard to public transport & mobility, green economy & labour market, education and security & justice. At the end of the Congress we hope to have agreed upon four resolutions that will provide a framework for our future Euregional cooperation."
The Saturday programme is as follows:
10:30: welcoming speeches
11:00: introduction: what is Euregio?
12:00: lunch at Maison Libérale
13:30-15:30: working groups
16:00-17:00: plenary session at the universitys lecture hall
17:30-19:00: reception at the Prince-Bishops Palace (Palais des Princes-Évêques) & speech by a special guest
21:00-??:??: party at the Carré
For our working groups, we have the following experts who will guide the process of resolution-writing:
- Bert KAMPHUIS for Education, D66 Alderman for Education in the municipality of Sittard-Geleen
- Beret ROOTS for Security & Justice, diplomatic psychologist and former national board member of the Junge Liberale
- Gilles FORET for Public Transport & Mobility, Vice-President of Liège Airport and member of the local council of Liège
- Lode VEREECK for Green Economy & Labour Market, professor of Public Economics at Hasselt University and Open VLD member of the Belgian Senate
The Sunday programme is mainly leisure and will include a visit of the exhibition "L'Art dégénéré selon Hitler" at the Cité Miroir, and afternoon a visit to the famous Curtius Brewery in Liège. The Congress will be officially closed at a reasonable time taking into account Saturday night's party.
